From the beginning of its operations Sports Infrastructure Management Board of Krakow has undertaken numerous initiatives to acquire adequate expertise, experience and partners to implement investments in the formula of public-private partnership. It is regarded as an attractive and alternative method of financing investments, one that in the coming years will be winning greater importance due to the growing needs and expected decrease of European Union funds available for Poland. One of the key undertakings of SIMB in this area is the PPP new perspectives - the creation of an international network of cooperation to promote public-private partnership for Krakow project, which has been prepared and implemented together with foreign partners, from France and United Kingdom, who have best and long-term experience in implementing PPP projects. These are the British-Polish Chamber of Commerce (BPCC, London) in co-operation with the Brytyjsko-Polskie Usługi Sp. z o.o. company, L'Institut de la Gestion Déléguée (IGD, Paris) and with French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Poland.
The basic purpose of the project is improvement of investment attractiveness and competitiveness of Malopolska and Krakow in terms of public-private partnership. One of the significant elements of the project implementation is creating an international network of cooperation to exchange good practices and experience as well as to provide substantive support in terms of PPP for the employees of Municipality of Krakow, including its budget-related units such as Sports Infrastructure Management Board of Krakow which introduces and implements the given project. Apart from the three seminars combined with workshops, conferences and study visits, the project assumes also various promotional activities, creating and running a website, preparing and publishing an offers directory, project publication, seminar and conference materials, multimedia presentation as well as marketing research and preparing a comprehensive analysis for a model investment in the PPP formula.
The project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Funds as part of the Malopolska Regional Operational Programme for 2007 – 2013 Priority Axis VIII Measure 8.2. Building the position of Malopolska in the European co-operation networks.
Project value exceeds PLN 1.4 m including 85% from the EU funds (over PLN 1.2 m) and own contribution of Municipality of Krakow amounting to 15% (PLN 0.2 m).
